About Springfield Pet Resort
Our Story
Dave and Sandy D'Hulster established Springfield Pet Resort in 1990. Over 50 years of commitment to the pet care industry has culminated in a wonderful career and now it is time to the torch to the next generation..
Enter Art & Courtney Hartman. Art became involved in sporting dogs through his relationship with Courtney and discovered his own niche through training bird dogs. By working for multiple trainers over the years, Art has combined that experience with his own natural abilities to create his own training style. Art decided to change his hobby into a career after a serious health scare changed his perspective of what matters most. His experience as a trainer and in animal husbandry has given him a solid foundation to start at Springfield.
Courtney's love of dogs began with her infancy, with her first word being "dog". Courtney received her first show dog at the age 9, and the rest is history. Courtney spent 20+ years working for show breeders and apprenticing for AKC Registered Handlers once she finished her Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science at Michigan State University. Courtney remains dedicated to honing her craft and enjoys learning about new breeds and grooming techniques.

Our Services
We offer a variety of services, including pet boarding, grooming, and training. These are all extensions of Art & Courtney's passion for dogs. Our staff works hard to provide the best care for your pets and ensure that they are happy and healthy.
The Resort
Springfield is a combination of 155 acres of fields, woods, water, and a building designed to house animals in such a way that they enjoy and appreciate the fresh air and outdoors. There are three types of kennels available for your pets. We have an outdoor area, indoor/outdoor heated area, and an indoor heated area.
The outoor area consists of an insulated cement-block house connected to a 4 x 14 foot, chain-link concrete floored run. These kennels are designed for hunting dogs and other outdoor dogs.
The indoor/outdoor heated area combines a beautiful indoor sleeping space with 24-hour access to the 4 x 14 foot outfoor chain-link fence and concrete run. Heat is provided by efficient radiant heaters, while hinge pass-through doors provide access to the outside. These kennels, like the outdoor ones, provide our guests with the opportunity to enjoy the outside environment at-will and is recommended for the average healthy pet.
Our indoor heated area most resembles a normal home environment. The rooms are 4 x 10 feet and are radiantly heated. Pets in this area are taken outside to a play yard several times a day. These rooms are in the mainstream of daily activity at Springfield, allowing for continuous contact with our staff and other guests. Our goal and purpose is to provide your pet with a comfortable and stress-fee surrounding during their stay with us.
